On our first day where we actually went into DC we visited the Smithsonian Zoo where we could see animals you can harldy find in german zoo’s.

Like this one, the Little Panda.

To prove that we were there Andrea risked her life and stuck her head into the mouth of a gigantic T-Rex.

The main attraction of the Smithsonian Zoo were those Panda’s.

After that John and Monika dropped us at the Potomac Mills which is a huge mall where we quit walking after 3 hours in just one direction. They have one shop on the other so it shouldn’t be too difficult to find some presents there.

Today we drove to Dulles to see the Air and Space Museum. It was a really cool and interesting place.

They had a realsize Spaceshuttle, lots of rockets and missiles as well as plenty stuff you need in space.

Another big topic were planes from all different times, like WWII.

After this great trip Monika and John took us to Don Pablos where we had a very tasty Mexican lunch. YUMMIE

On our first days in Lake Ridge we just hung out in Lake Ridge. We went out for a walk before having lunch and enjoyed the beautifull landscape out there.

After waiting 3 hours at the airport in Nuremberg we finally took off on our tiny plane to Paris. I was very excited because it was my very first flight. But it was cool.

In Paris we were picked up by a lady and brought to our gate like VIP’s, to get our plane to Washington DC. But before boarding we had to show them all our cabin luggage. Thanks 9/11. The picture below is our plane to Washington DC.

A cool feature on board was, that each had his own TFT where we were able to see the onboard camera during the whole flight, including start and lading which was a really cool thing.

The service on board was really nice and we could see a bunch of films, play games and so on during the flight. But the best of all was the beautifull view above the clouds.

After arriving at Dulles International airport and a quick and painless ‘check-in’ we were picked up by Monika and John. We drove to their house where we’ll stay for the next few days. We couldn’t belive where we would sleep, but see yourself.

Wow. Finally we take off.

After a lot of planning we’re now on vacation. We’ll leave Germany from Nuremberg, change the plane in Paris and than we’re off to Washington DC. (see map below)

I am very excited to see the other side of the big pond. Well, at least a pice of it. We will start our tour in Washington DC. After a few days we’ll fly to St. Louis where we plan to visit Chicago for a few days too, followed by a week in Miami which probably will be the most chilled part of our roundtrip.

So much about our holiday plans. I’ll try to post on a regular base our impression from oversea.
